In response to a profound need in the community, Shirley Caylor and her late husband, the Reverend Donald Capp, co-founded the Crisis Center in the early 1970's as a suicide prevention hotline. It grew under Mrs. Caylor's leadership as CEO into a multi-faceted, vibrant, and financially sound organization, meeting multiple needs of at-risk youth and their families. Shirley Caylor has retired after over 47 years of dedicated service to the Crisis Center and, more importantly, to the youth of Northwest Indiana.
