CRESYM is a non-profit association, gathering industrial and academic research organisations, and acts transparently for the general interest, addressing new and/or complex, low-TRL technical challenges of the future fast-evolving European energy system. We foster efficient collaborations on low-TRL R&D issues of general interest; We promote, and rely on, open-source principles; We shall maintain useful technological building blocks available to all researchers and engineers ("CReDIT"). We reconcile security and IPRs when developing open-source deliverables. Open-source, non-contaminating licences are key to easing dissemination among operators, manufacturers, and vendors in a fair and neutral manner. We organise collaborative, efficient R&D work with practical intermediary outputs. We build upon, as well as support and promote, other existing open-source initiatives. Our President and Vice-President are, respectively, Pr. Peter Palensky (TU Delft) and Pr. Antonello Monti (RWTH Aachen). Our founding members are four research institutions (Fraunhofer IEE, RWTH Aachen, TU Delft, and the University of Ljubljana) and four companies (ELES, RTE, Swissgrid, and TenneT).
