The mission of Crested Butte Land Trust is to forever protect and steward open lands for vistas, recreation, wildlife, and ranching, thus contributing to the preservation of Gunnison County’s unique heritage and quality of life. Crested Butte Land Trust is a local land trust nationally accredited through the Land Trust Accreditation Commission ensuring that the organization meets the national quality standards established by the conservation community. The Crested Butte Land Trust has worked with our community to protect over 6,000 acres of land helping to maintain the Gunnison Valley’s incredible quality of life. Everyone in the community benefits from land protection projects. Our work together contributes to our community’s economic diversity and prosperity in other ways too. By conserving over 90 properties in Gunnison County, the Crested Butte Land Trust has raised over $70,000,000 of public and private funds contributing to the vibrancy of our local economy.
