Arts Council of Wales was established by Royal Charter in 1994. Its members are appointed by the Welsh Assembly Government’s Minister for Heritage. We are also known by our Welsh name, Cyngor Celfyddydau Cymru.
We are a registered charity, number 1034245, whose trustees are the appointed Members.
We champion, develop and invest in artistic and cultural experiences that enrich people's lives. We support activities across the arts, museums and libraries – from theatre to digital art, reading to dance, music to literature, and crafts to collections.
By 2030 we want England to be a country in which the creativity of each of us is valued and given the chance to flourish and where everyone of us has access to a remarkable range of high quality cultural experiences. Between 2018 and 2022, we will invest £1.45 billion of public money from government and an estimated £860 million from the National Lottery to help deliver this vision.
We are Nesta, the research and innovation foundation. We use a wide range of innovation methods to design, test and scale new ideas and solutions to the biggest challenges of our time.
We are a UK charity and our work is enabled by a financial endowment. We are registered in England and Wales with charity no. 1144091 and in Scotland with no. SC042833.
