Creative Spore Information

Creative Spore is a one-person studio building Unity tools for real-time simulation, rendering performance and editor tooling. Since 2015 I have published and supported tools on the Unity Asset Store: RPG Map Editor, Super Tilemap Editor and Smart 2D Colliders. All rated 5/5, some maintained for close to a decade, and used in shipped commercial products including Blasphemous. The latest release is Massive Swarm System (September 2026), a tool for simulating and rendering large crowds of animated agents in Unity. Both benchmarks are measured on release builds, never in the editor, and both are published with the hardware attached: Mobile: 1,000+ fully animated agents at 60 FPS on an Oppo A74, a budget Android phone, staying above 30 FPS in worst-case scenes. Desktop: 3,848 fully animated agents at 63 FPS with every one of them on screen, on an i7-10700K with an RTX 3080, at 1440p with dynamic shadows and camera effects enabled. It turned out to be rendering-bound rather than simulation-bound. With agents off screen the simulation alone holds 60 FPS, and on desktop the simulation step costs 9.6 ms of the frame. Underneath: spatial partitioning for movement and spatial queries, pooled MeshRenderers on the render path, and GPU-instanced VAT (Vertex Animation Texture) shaders for the animation, which takes the per-agent Animator and SkinnedMeshRenderer out of the frame entirely. Behind the studio: 19 years of software engineering. Mobile games at Kwalee and Gameloft, and before that industrial automation and satellite systems.
