Creative Commissioner Information

As a former owner of a creative agency based in Magherafelt, I've recently embarked on a new venture: selling my own collection of Irish folk art. The reception from the art world has been incredibly positive, with critics praising its blend of modern art with Irish folk songs. My approach embraces inclusivity, weaving well-known Irish songs into each piece to resonate with every corner of the island. Drawing on my background in film, animation, and design, I've infused these artworks with detailed research and creative briefings for the artists involved. This modern interpretation of a traditional art form is paving the way for a new genre of creative expression. In the summer of 2020, I found myself searching for a creative outlet. Inspired by my favourite songs, I decided to commission artworks that captured their essence. Originally intended for personal enjoyment and showcased on Instagram, the pieces quickly gained traction, particularly among Irish Americans. Three years on, with seven completed commissions under my belt, I felt it was time to share these artworks with the local community and beyond. They are now available for sale at the local Irish community centre in An Carn, near Maghera, and also online, where they've been selling out within weeks.
