Create Makerspace Inc. Information

Create Makerspace is an accessible and inclusive workshop in Squamish, BC offering memberships, classes and design & fabrication to individuals and companies. Our core disciplines are woodwork, metalwork, pottery and CNC machinery. The mission of create is to provide a community hub that makers and innovators can use in the following ways: Business - to support artisans and aspiring creatives with the tools and space they need to thrive, including a retail store where they can sell their products. These users may already have established local enterprises that they are looking to grow, or may just be starting out on their journey as an entrepreneur. The goal is to nurture Squamish's creative economy and keep things local. We also cater to companies looking to develop products through rapid prototyping. This means providing access to CNC machinery such as laser cutters, 3D printers and CNC routers that would otherwise be prohibitively expensive. Recreation - to enable hobbyists to congregate, work on and develop their passions in a supportive, safe and inspiring environment. Knowledge sharing is an invaluable part of any makerspace. Providing a forum for people to meet and bond fosters a sense of community, which is so important as Squamish continues its strong population growth. Create has a number of partnerships in place with community groups that we will host in our space, such as Pride Squamish, the Squamish Nation, Our Squamish Placemaking Society, Howe Sound Women's Centre and more. Education - to facilitate workshops and classes for the community. These classes will be a mixture of safety certification, skills building, regular classes with the same instructor and project-focused.
