C.R.E.A.T.E Lab - IIIT Kottayam Information

C.R.E.A.T.E Lab (Centre for Resilient Environments and Autonomous Technologies for Engineering Systems) is a multidisciplinary research centre at the Indian Institute of Information Technology Kottayam (IIIT Kottayam) focusing on the convergence of Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), Internet of Things (IoT), Drones/Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and 5G/6G Communication Technologies. The lab aims to design secure, autonomous, and sustainable systems that connect digital intelligence with real-world resilience. Our Research Domains Autonomous UAV Systems & Drone Security Development of secure, multi-layered UAV communication frameworks integrating AI-based anomaly detection, resilient mesh networks, and blockchain-enabled flight data verification. Focus areas include anti-drone measures, airspace protection, UAV intrusion detection, and 5G-enabled swarm intelligence. 5G/6G and Beyond Networks Research on ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC) and massive IoT integration for next-generation wireless systems. The lab explores UAV-aided 6G networks, Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS), and Network Slicing for critical missions such as disaster management, precision agriculture, and smart mobility. Cyber-Physical and IoT Security Design of secure IoT architectures with cryptographic and privacy-preserving protocols for smart environments. Implementation of CPS threat modelling, attack simulation, and intrusion prevention frameworks tailored for autonomous systems. AI and Digital Twins for Resilience Development of AI-driven digital twins for predictive control, fault diagnosis, and climate-resilient engineering systems. Sustainable and Resilient Environments Application of autonomous sensing, edge computing, and cloud-integrated analytics to monitor environmental parameters and enable adaptive decision-making.
