The factory has become the bottleneck in biomanufacturing. A company can prove useful biology in a lab and still have no practical way to make real product. The usual choices arrive too early: schedule an expensive CMO campaign or commit years, millions of dollars, specialized operators, and fixed infrastructure to a factory. Craft BioSolutions is developing modular fermentation systems for the missing middle between a flask and a factory. We are building toward a way for product teams to make real batches, learn what their cultures can do, and add capacity in steps as product performance and demand become real. Our approach combines shallow, single-use fermentation vessels designed around passive gas transfer and low-energy mixing with sensors, controllable pumps, and an operating record that makes each batch easier to understand. We have a working 2L system today for training fermentations, data collection, and early controls work. Our next milestone is an MVP capable of two parallel 25-40L fermentations. After that, we plan to build a 200L cabinet for beta partners. We are building with product teams, researchers, and partners working on point-of-need production, difficult organisms, and other cases where a conventional facility does not fit. Capacity should not be the prize at the end of product development. It should be something the product can grow into. Talk with us: mitchell@craftbiosolutions.com
