CQS GROUP RACING TEAM KU Leuven Information

CQS Group Racing Team consists of 7 master and postgraduate students from the KU Leuven, campus GroupT. Our goal is to develop and implement sustainable solutions for the car industry. We implement and test these solutions on our two CitroĂŤn 2CV's that drive endurance races such as the 24hours of Spa-Francorshamps. This project allows for motivated students to develop their skills and expand their creativity while still enjoying the thrill of participating in endurance races. We participate in these 2CV cup races to prove that nostalgia towards oldtimers, racing and sustainability can coexist. Both the racing world and oldtimers are getting a bad reputation in todays strict society towards sustainability and currently, this is with good reason. Thus we need to innovate, create new technologies and change the world of racing without losing some of its original values. Currently the team has two cars; the Pegasus and Xenos: The Pegasus is our experimental car that drives on E85. This is a mixture of 85% Bio-ethanol and 15% gasoline. Additionally, the Pegasus' hood and side-skirts are made of a bio-degradable material. This year we'll be working on making our engines more stable and reliable as well as redesigning our exhaust system for optimal performance. The Xenos is our car that is currently built towards reliability and a more steady income for the team. He's fitted with a BMW boxer motorcycle engine to maintain the original boxer principle upon which the 2CV engines are built. This car will be used to take sponsors, partners and other interested parties along for a lap with one of our pilots on track days.
