Our story began in 1874, when we first supplied explosives to the Victorian goldfields in Australia. Since then, we have grown to become one of the world's leading mining and infrastructure solutions providers. From the production and supply of explosives, blasting systems, mining chemicals and geotechnical monitoring, to our cutting-edge digital solutions and comprehensive range of services, we help customers optimise their operations safely, efficiently and responsibly. Today, our 15,000+ strong community of engineers, scientists, technologists, operators, business specialists and on-site crew supports customers across surface and underground mining, quarrying, construction, and oil and gas operations. Silcar was started in 1993 as a purpose built outsourcing maintenance organisation to provide the newly privatised power industry with the skilled resources and the management for the mechanical and electrical maintenance services. Starting from one project in the power industry, Silcar has developed to become a multi industry, multi site national organisation, that is now working with Blue Chip clients involved in heavy and light manufacturing, metals processing, pulp and paper, telecoms energy systems, power protection and distribution, mining, automotive and still with a considerable involvement with maintaining thermal power stations.
