CounterAction is a consultancy practice that specialises in counter intelligence. We meet our clients needs to protect themselves from the prying eyes of competitors and others, such as private equity houses, banks, industry analysts, journalists and head-hunters that use covert techniques to gather intelligence on companies' resources, processes, activities, plans and staff. Although covert, much of this activity is both legal and ethical but it is frequently used for purposes that can seriously damage the subject companies' performance. Conventional security methods rarely detect intelligence gathering that is not out and out espionage. This is because the techniques that are used do not fall outside the law and the intelligence that is sought can never be described as trade secrets or intellectual property. Defence against it requires a holistic approach that is completely different from techniques such as access control, guarding and IT security. The partners in CounterAction are themselves seasoned intelligence gatherers who use their experience and their skills to determine the vulnerabilities that clients are exposed to and to develop and implement programmes and systems that will frustrate attempts to collect intelligence for any purpose that may be harmful to clients' interests.
