CBA Yorkshire is a charitable organisation (registered charity no.519581) run entirely by volunteers for the benefit of those interested in the welfare and better understanding of Yorkshire's historic environment. It aims to encourage and promote greater public knowledge and involvement, and where possible to advance and assist relevant research. We cover the historic Ridings of Yorkshire, from the Tees to the Humber, and from the Pennine moors to the east coast. The archaeology of this region is as diverse as its landscape, from the often-elusive remains of the Palaeolithic and Mesolithic in the Dales, to the military remains of the mid-twentieth century on the North Sea coast. We are an independent charity funded by our members' and affliiates' subscriptions. Our committee is elected at the AGM and meets four times a year. We: campaign for your heritage bring together those interested in archaeology in Yorkshire support local societies work with other partners in environmental conservation encourage and publicise relevant research encourage and advertise the opportunities for education and participation We fulfil these roles through our annual symposium and other meetings, newsletters, website and journal, as well as working behind the scenes to protect and enhance the historic environment. Our members: help us develop our work in education, conservation and raise the profile of archaeology in the minds of decision-makers
