Without additional measures, by 2030 84 million children and youth will be out of school. In coffee growing communities, this challenge is further exacerbated by financial pressures, the risks of travelling long distances to rural schools, and seasonal migration to harvest coffee. The Costa Foundation is a grant giving body that was established in 2007 as the charitable foundation of Costa Coffee to improve the life chances of children and young people in coffee growing communities by providing the opportunity for a safe, quality education. Over the past 17 years, the Costa Foundation has invested over £20 million on more than 100 new schools, over 800 classrooms in 10 countries, giving in excess of 120,000 children access to education in coffee-growing communities across the world. We work with coffee growing communities across the globe and currently our support focuses on Colombia, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Peru, Uganda, Vietnam and Zambia. Our work is only made possible thanks to our fantastic partners: • Ecom Agroindustrial Corp • Federación Nacional de Cafeteros de Colombia • Fundacion Nicafrance • Imagine 1 Day • PEAS (Promoting Equality in African Schools) • Plan International • Seeds for Progress • Volcafe If you would like to find out more, discuss becoming a partner, fundraise for us or make a donation, then please get in touch, we'd love to hear from you.
