Cosmetology Association of New Brunswick Information

The Cosmetology Association of New Brunswick is as unique, diverse and as talented as the members in which it governs. The members, staff, Board of Directors, and Committee members are very pleased to be celebrating the "Grand Opening" of their new functional and modern facility at 220 Whiting Road, Fredericton. A great deal of planning, love, sweat and determination went into this new location. The Association's ultimate goal was to provide the membership with a positive, professional, functional location where the business of the association could be conducted. The new location provides adequate space to host annual meetings and related training seminars and conducts all level of provincial examinations. The CANB has captured all the requirements necessary to operate efficiently in this new building. It is spacious, inviting, functional and best of all it belongs to all members of the CANB. There is a long history to this professional association, surviving many challenges but overcoming and persevering to be successful, strong and a very ambition. From 1962 until 1998 the reigns of the organization was held by the New Brunswick Hairdressers' Association. Many great members and Board of Directors governed and secured the survival of the organization. Faye Somers, Saint John, Evelyn Grant, Fredericton and Walter MacDonald of Saint John were a few of the founding members of the New Brunswick Hairdressers' Association. The successor organization faced a new and inviting challenge in 1996 and after two years of addressing the industry through provincial government, a private bill known as "The Cosmetology Association of New Brunswick" was granted Royal Ascent on February 26, 1998. This new piece of legislation encompassed all aspects of the beauty industry which included hairdressers, aestheticians, barbers, nail technicians and make-up artists.
