Coro Information

Coro performs three concerts a year in various London venues; in addition, we take on other projects such as choral competitions, cathedral visits and weekends away; we have also recorded three CDs. Coro has toured in Malta, Spain, Estonia, Italy and France, successfully competing in many European choral festivals. In 2003 the choir became the first Western European group to win the Grand Prix at the Tallinn International Choral Competition (beating 45 choirs from around the world) and, in 2007, won the Renaissance Music prize and the Twentieth Century Music prizes at the 54th International Polyphonic Competition "Guido d'Arezzo" in Italy. In May 2010 we reached the grand final of the Florilge Vocal de Tours, and were also awarded the competition's special Renaissance prize. In December 2010, Coro celebrated its 10th anniversary with a packed out concert in St. John's, Smith Square. Coro has recently made its third recording, "O Jesu Mi Dulcissime", a disc of music by the early 17th century composers such as Schütz and Gabrieli - available on the Dal Segno label. Recorded in October 2011, this was a collaborative effort with members of Camerata Antica, with whom we performed Monteverdi's Vespers in March last year. Coro's previous two recordings, The Lover's Ghost and This Christmas Night, both available on the Dal Segno record label. In addition, the choir appears on Harmony by The Priests (Sony Music, 2009), Classic FM presents Alfie Boe (Classic FM, 2006) and the soundtrack for the film The Sleeping Beauty of East Finchley (Director Seamus Rae.
