The Kansas Department of Transportation is responsible for construction and maintenance activities associated with state highways in 105 counties in Kansas. District Six is the southwest corner of the state and is responsible for 18 counties. These responsibilities include providing snow and ice removal on the 1,580 miles of state highways that are housed in this district.
