Co'ox Mayab is a union of community-based tourism cooperatives in Yucatán, Mexico. We bring together local experience, knowledge and organizational capacities to strengthen fairer, more responsible and territorially rooted forms of tourism. We connect with universities, research centres, cooperation organizations, foundations, public institutions and specialized operators to develop collaborative projects, academic stays, fieldwork and educational travel programs focused on community-based tourism. Based on each collaboration's objectives, we design and coordinate tailor-made programs that may include meetings with cooperatives, territorial visits, workshops, knowledge exchange, seminars, accommodation, meals, transportation and locally managed tourism experiences. Our role is to facilitate meaningful connections between visiting groups and community organizations while ensuring the relevance of each activity and tangible value for local participants. We also work on organizational strengthening, commercialization, training, communication and advocacy related to community-based tourism, cooperatives, biocultural heritage and territorial stewardship. We welcome long-term collaborations with institutions interested in learning, researching and developing initiatives together with community-based tourism organizations in Yucatán.
