CoopCycle Information

CoopCycle is a federation of bike delivery co-ops. Our vision: cooperatives that are ran locally, with employed riders, united internationally, in order to compete with global platforms. Governed democratically by coops, CoopCycle enables them to stand united and to reduce their costs thanks to resources pooling. It creates a strong bargaining power to protect the bikers rights. Up to now, the federation brings together around thirty cooperatives in around ten countries in Europe and North America. Among the mutualized services provided at the federation level, CoopCycle is developing a full-fledged bike delivery software that enables cooperatives to manage their deliveries, and shops and restaurants owners to access the delivery service. This software is a digital common, it belongs to its users (couriers, shop owners) and its contributors (developers). It is protected by a reciprocity license (ruled by a licence by the P2P Foundation) that limits its commercial use to worker-owned coops. The other services include onboardings of new cooperatives, traning, negotiations of global commercial offers with key accounts, responses to call for proposals and subsidies, communication, lobbying … All these services and the salaried employees who produce them aim to be financed through the contributions of the cooperatives, contributions which are computed according to each coop ability / means.
