Working to prevent flooding and water pollution, Coon Creek Watershed District (CCWD) is a local unit of government located in central Anoka County. We are charged with maintaining a 135-mile public ditch system for drainage without flooding or polluting downstream communities. We do this by partnering with our cities of Andover, Blaine, Coon Rapids, Fridley, Ham Lake, Spring Lake Park, and Columbus plus local agencies to fulfill our Mission. Our Mission is to manage groundwater and the surface water drainage system to prevent property damage, maintain hydrologic balance, protect water quality for the safety and enjoyment of citizens, and the preservation and enhancement of wildlife habitat. We were founded by citizen petition in 1959.
