Turning carbon emissions into everyday essentials. Almost everything we buy starts with fossil carbon. From the clothes we wear to the paint on our walls and the fuel in our cars, carbon is an essential ingredient in everyday life. Yet more than 90% of the carbon used by the world's chemical industry still comes from fossil sources. COOloop is developing a better way. Our proprietary catalyst combines captured CO₂ and renewable hydrogen to make ethanol directly, in a single step. It uses non-precious metals, has achieved 97% ethanol selectivity in batch laboratory testing, and is protected by a UK patent application. You already use ethanol. You just don't see it. It's blended into petrol, used in household and personal care products, and can be converted into sustainable aviation fuel. Ours is the same molecule, from a different source of carbon. For producers such as bioethanol plants, our technology is be COOloop is a hydrogen commercialisation platform. Our MOF-derived catalyst converts CO₂ and green hydrogen directly into ultra-low carbon ethanol — TRL 4, with 97% selectivity demonstrated and a continuous-flow programme underway with Honeywell UOP and Teesside University. We chose ethanol as our first market deliberately: it's a large, established global market with existing storage, transport, and distribution infrastructure, and strong regulatory tailwinds under RED III, ReFuelEU Aviation, and CORSIA. We don't need a hydrogen market to exist first - we sell into an ethanol market that already does. Our model is asset-light and capital-efficient: we license the technology, supply the catalyst, and originate hydrogen supply, earning primarily royalty-driven revenue as licensees deploy standardised modular sites.
