At the Rejuvenation Clinic & Medispa, Dr. Luca Russo offers Fraxel® skin rejuvenation to his patients and the clinic has been a centre of excellence for this treatment since 2005. The clinic is one of only two clinics in the UK to offer the full family of Fraxel® laser treatments and these include Fraxel Repair, Fraxel Restore and Fraxel Dual. Fraxel works differently than more traditional laser rejuvenation treatments in that instead of treating the entire surface area of the skin, Fraxel® uses precise fractional technology to target problem areas deep within the layers of the skin. The laser eradicates poor quality cells and creates rapid acceleration in collagen formation. As a result, the skin is smoother, brighter and more refined. Areas that can benefit from Fraxel® treatment are scarring, wrinkles, severe sun damage, mottled pigmentation and enlarged pores. Fraxel® is a procedure that can take place during a lunchtime in clinic. A regular treatment of the full face takes as little as 20 minutes. Prior to the treatment the area is cleansed and a topical anesthetic gel is applied and left for 45 minutes. Dr. Russo has developed a technique which requires less number of treatments to achieve maximum results. Most patients require between one to three treatments only, approximately three to six weeks apart but the treatments can be spaced further apart if desired. Recovery time is around 2 to 7 days, during which time some redness, dryness, flaking and mild to moderate swelling may take place. Redness can easily be covered by a concealing make up and Dr. Russo will advise on the best products to use. It is required that you do not expose your skin to the sun for the first 4 weeks following treatment and use of a high factor broad spectrum (at least SPF 30) sun cream is used for a minimum of 8 weeks post treatment.
