Conversion Energy Enterprises (CEE) is a privately-held corporation that was formed to develop and prototype innovative laser products for medical applications. CEE also provides consulting services to large and small business clients in optoelectronics, lasers, sensors and advanced electronics. The Company tissue welding products are based on proprietary technology that has been demonstrated to reliably join large vasculature, skeletal, and gastrointestinal tissue, exhibit high strength, resorbable, appears to be nontoxic and does not impair growth. Measured tensile strengths are a factor of ten stronger than values reported for tissue solders/sealants currently on the market or in clinical trials. Ten patent applications are currently in preparation. The tissue welding system is a fully integrated system comprised of a miniature laser, designed for low cost manufacturing that performs as a directed energy source, an optical probe for automated control of the laser to stabilize temperature at the weld site, a unique surgical handpiece and a biomaterial that performs as a tissue solder when exposed to a specific laser wavelength. The solder material can be formulated as gels, solid films or liquids for application to the weld site.
