Every church we work with says a version of the same thing: "We know we have HR gaps, but we don't know where to start, and we're not sure anyone outside the church world really understands us." They're usually right on both counts. Consort HR exists to close that gap. We provide outsourced HR services built specifically for churches, ministries, and faith-based nonprofits, not a corporate playbook with a scripture verse added on. Churches carry the same legal exposure as any employer: hiring, termination, classification, benefits, accommodation requests, contracts. But they carry it with fewer resources and added complexity: staff who are also congregants, volunteers functioning like employees, elder boards making personnel calls without HR training, and a ministerial exception that protects some decisions but not others (and is narrowing). Our founder led HR at the executive level as a Chief HR Officer before bringing that experience to ministry clients. That means our guidance comes from having actually run HR, not just advised on it from outside. In practice, this looks like ADA accommodation processes built for real operational constraints, compliance training designed for non-HR staff, employment contracts structured for ministry roles, and benefits strategy that gets reviewed, not just renewed. We listen to how a ministry actually functions, translate the legal and compliance issue into plain language and real options, then help implement it in a way the ministry's own staff can maintain. We treat discretion as part of the deliverable. Ministry communities are close-knit, and every recommendation is handled with that in mind. Our goal isn't a single project.
