Connoiter is the datamap company. If you have oceans of data, we can map that for both humans and agents. Connoiter's single technical focus is datamaps. Datamaps can be thought of as Google Maps for AI-ready data. Datamaps can be used by both humans and agents to grasp the lay of a datascape. LLMs are expensive and opaque. RAG systems are black boxes out of which text emerges magically. Sure a natural language chat interface is relaxing to use, but what the what is going on inside there under the hood? Users have no idea what knowledge is inside RAG databases and desperately need control over the retrieval process. Connoiter's single technical focus is datamaps, which are interactive visual maps of, say, the entire contents of a RAG database (although RAG is certainly not the only use case for datamaps). Continuing with the example of RAG (a horrible label for what is actually an AI-ready library of data), via datamaps the "R" in RAG – retrieval – becomes reassuringly transparent, visually entertaining,and enables serendipitous exploration. Users can see where in the data's semantic space their queries are matching up with the contents of the RAG database (via similarity of embedding vectors), and even modify that which is retrieved for generation purposes. With datamaps, users are given instrumentation and control to refine the retrieval results that go into the LLM's context window and in so doing the quality of generated results can improve. When less noise is introduced into the LLM's context window, the results are better. Additionally, costs can go down because unnecessarily loading the context window means more tokens and therefore slower inference. Connoiter is driving the development of an open web-native data standard, the Vectron Datamap Schema, for interchangeable datamaps. To prove out the value of the schema, we also have developed Vectron, a web-app that reads from the schema to render datamaps.
