The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), established in 1985, is one of the largest universities in Pakistan. It offers undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate programmes through its five schools: Suleman Dawood School of Business, Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering, Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law and the School of Education.

University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore Founded in 1921 as Mughalpura Technical College and later renamed Maclagan Engineering College in 1923, UET Lahore is one of Pakistan’s oldest and most prestigious engineering institutions. Initially offering programs in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, it expanded to Civil Engineering by 1947. Over the decades, UET has grown into a leading hub for engineering, architecture, planning, and allied disciplines. By the 1970s, it had established strong postgraduate and PhD programs, and in 1975, founded its first sub-campus at Taxila. Located on the historic Grand Trunk Road near the Shalimar Gardens, UET Lahore continues to be a center of academic excellence, innovation, and research, nurturing engineers and technologists for global impact.

The Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS) is an international organization. It aims to reduce the ever-growing gap between the developed and developing world through useful applications of science and technology. The Third World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) initiated the proposal for the formation of COMSATS under the leadership of Nobel Laureate, Dr. Abdus Salam. The CIIT was established in 1998, as a project of the Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS), which is an inter-governmental organization with 27 member states in three continents; Asia, Africa and Latin America, namely Bangladesh, China, Colombia, Egypt, Ghana, Gambia, Iran, Jamaica, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Korea (DPRK), Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, State of Palestine, Philippines, Senegal, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Somalia, Syria, Tanzania, Turkey, Tunisia, Uganda and Zimbabwe
