Compassionate Inquiry Information

Compassionate Inquiry® is an educational approach to self-inquiry and trauma-informed awareness, developed by Dr. Gabor Maté in collaboration with Sat Dharam Kaur, ND. Designed for mental health professionals, medical practitioners, facilitators, and individuals engaged in personal and professional development, Compassionate Inquiry® offers structured, experiential education that explores how early experiences shape patterns of perception, emotion, and behavior. Through guided reflection and relational learning, participants are invited to deepen awareness, presence, and understanding of inner experience—within themselves and in the people they support. While CI practices may feel therapeutic in effect, Compassionate Inquiry® is not psychotherapy, counseling, or medical treatment. Compassionate Inquiry® offers a range of online and in-person educational programs, including a comprehensive Professional Training program, introductory courses, facilitated practice groups, and specialist trauma-informed training. Programs are delivered globally in multiple languages and emphasize ethical practice, self-responsibility, and compassionate inquiry as a foundation for learning and professional growth.
