Compass Association Information

The Community of Providers of Physical Activity and School Sports (COMPASS) was set up in 2011 after leading providers of sport and physical activity coaching came together to tackle the issue of poor delivery of physical activity to children and the lack of appreciation of national standards. COMPASS is an industry trade association representing the interests of ALL providers delivering sport and physical activity in schools and the wider community, including private companies, foundations, charities and the public sector, and represents weekly delivery to over one million children in the UK. The organisation is governed by a Board whose members all represent the leading players in the Sports and Physical Activity sector. Together we are working with key stakeholders to establish a quality assurance Kitemark for the best providers to use to promote their organisation as a quality provider. COMPASS’s aim is a simple one - the commitment to improving standards and best practice of external, non-teaching specialists who deliver services in schools and the wider community, working with other key stakeholders, primarily the Association for Physical Education, Skills Active (CAPRE Register) and Sports Coach UK to help raise the quality of school sport and physical activity.
