We are a nationwide and locally based community organisation that provides a free, confidential, and independent service to the public of information, advice, and advocacy. We work to empower people to resolve the issues they come to us with. We also use what we learn from helping people to advocate for laws and policies that protect human rights and well-being, and speak out against those that harm them. Our service is provided by 2,000 trained volunteers, in 80 locations around New Zealand. Our volunteers are supported by a comprehensive knowledgebase and regular learning. Youthline is a collection of organisations that work together to make sure young people are able to get the best support, when they need it. We work with young people, their familes and those supporting young people. Our organisations are made up of volunteer and paid staff members - and we have centres based across the country. We were proudly established in 1970 by a group of people who realised that there were not a lot of options for young people needing to access help and development services. We understand that sometimes it can be difficult asking for support. It can also be difficult working out who to contact for what. To make sure it's as easy as possible to use our services, and other services who work with young people, we make sure that we have good relationships across the country with other providers so that we can point you in the direction of local services.
