Comm Dev Group is a volunteer community of student and junior software developers partnering with local Search & Rescue teams to learn how to build mission-critical tools. Lead by passionate tech students and guided by experienced industry mentors, we’re developing prototypes of lightweight, open-source solutions, from autonomous drone flight planners to real-time mission dashboards that help us understand the challenges of search operations and empower field teams. By working hands-on with SAR professionals, we gain practical full-stack, embedded-systems, and UX skills while iterating toward tools that could one day accelerate response times and improve on-scene coordination.
