The nonprofit Urban Institute is dedicated to elevating the debate on social and economic policy. For nearly five decades, Urban scholars have conducted research and offered evidence-based solutions that improve lives and strengthen communities across a rapidly urbanizing world. Their objective research helps expand opportunities for all, reduce hardship among the most vulnerable, and strengthen the effectiveness of the public sector.

Code for America is committed to building a team with a rich mix of perspectives and lived experiences because it strengthens our ability to help government deliver for everyone. We’re made up of people-centered problem solvers: technologists, advocates, and storytellers from many different backgrounds and communities around the country. We merge the best parts of technology, nonprofit, and government. We believe government at all levels can and should work well for everyone— and the mindful use of technology makes it possible. We’re known for building digital tools, but the work doesn’t stop there. We seek to transform government by showing what’s possible when communities are included in policy and service design. We use insights and ideas from real people to guide us to real solutions that break down barriers to meet community needs and improve government in meaningful ways.
