GrowNYC is a hands-on non-profit with a mission to empower all New Yorkers with equitable access to fresh, locally grown food and neighborhood green spaces, reduce waste, and care for the environment. GrowNYC was originally created in 1970 as the Council on the Environment of New York City (CENYC). Born out of the spirit of the first Earth Day, CENYC was initially a policy-based organization, writing comprehensive reports about quality of life issues like air quality, traffic, and noise. Today, we serve over 3 million New Yorkers annually through a robust network of sustainability programs and resources. Our programs focus our efforts on four key areas: Food Access & Agriculture, Green Spaces, Zero Waste and Education. Since 1970, GrowNYC has been rolling up its sleeves alongside NYC residents to: - Provide access to healthy, fresh, local food for all New Yorkers -Grow and maintain vibrant green spaces and community gardens. -Help New Yorkers recycle more and reduce waste. -Create the next generation of environmental leaders through hands-on education programs.

OUR MISSION The Urban Affairs Coalition unites government, business, neighborhoods, and individual initiatives to improve the quality of life in the region, build wealth in urban communities, and solve emerging issues. WHO WE ARE We are a Coalition of 80+ partner organizations, large and small, working on diverse issues that immediately affect communities. We strengthen nonprofit organizations through fiscal sponsorship, capacity building, and program evaluation; improve life chances for youth and young adults; and provide economic opportunity to low-income households, working families, and disadvantaged businesses. WHAT WE DO The Coalition shapes public policy and delivers programs that respond to urgent community needs. The problems we face are far too complex for one entity to solve on its own. Our deep community roots and strong linkages to public and private groups allow us to bring together a diverse set of resources around specific issues to drive change from the ground up. The Power of Coalition means that, together, we can accomplish what no one organization can do alone.

We transform unused space into thriving urban farms, providing schools, families, restaurants, businesses, and communities with immediate access to nutritious food, while revitalizing city landscapes and inspiring self-sufficiency. Green City Growers provides a professional and experienced "helping hand" to install, maintain and help anyone produce a high-quality and bountiful vegetable and fruit harvest year-round. We offer Farming as a Service (FaaS) full maintenance plans, hands-on farming consultations, educational and wellness programs, as well as products and services for winter growing.
