CoLearn Information

CoLearn Lab is a research and product organization that combines human teaching and AI to develop critical thinkers and problem solvers at scale. Students don’t fall behind because of a lack of content. They fall behind when they lose the motivation to keep working through hard problems. We study how to fix that, and we build products that put those findings to work for millions of K-12 learners. Our work follows two paths: Getting students to embrace the struggle Technology that helps teachers, parents and peers build lasting motivation to learn, starting with cohort-based live classes where attendance and participation are measured every session. Making the system reward thinking AI that evaluates open-ended, handwritten work, so students are rewarded for their reasoning, not just their final answers. Our products double as our research platform: • CoLearn App: live math and science classes with AI-evaluated handwritten practice for Grades 4-12 in Indonesia • CoTutor: a STEM homework helper that reads handwritten attempts, spots errors and guides students with audio, used in 20+ countries • Q&A App: 600,000+ expert-verified video solutions, winner of Google Play’s Best of 2020 By the numbers: 5M+ students reached, 250+ parallel live cohorts and 40,000+ handwritten submissions every month.
