CodeYetu is a charity coding club for kids with a main focus on less privileged kids from Children’s Homes. We believe that given an opportunity everyone can rise to their full potential. In our society today, we have a lot of children who are abandoned mostly in very heartbreaking situations. Some are rescued and taken into homes while some are left at the mercy of the world. Since its inception in August 2018, the team has been able to train a total of 31 kids within a range of 7 to 18 years in two children's homes in Nairobi.During school holidays we conduct hackathons that test the kid's creativity and coding skills that acts to motivate and award the top-performing students. We are happy to see some of our kids now very good at web development using HTML and CSS and working on creating and improving their home’s websites. This program is meant to equip the kids with tech skills at an early age, which will, in turn, motivate them to take up careers in technology and innovate toward growing Africa.
