Development of Django is supported by an independent foundation established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Like most open-source foundations, the goal of the Django Software Foundation is to promote, support, and advance its open-source project: in our case, the Django Web framework.
The Rails Foundation is a non-profit foundation set up to improve the documentation, education, marketing, and events of the Ruby on Rails framework to the benefit of all new and existing Rails developers, and to ensure a prosperous ecosystem that continues to improve for decades to come.
In alphabetical order, the eight founding core members of the foundation are: Cookpad, Doximity, Fleetio, GitHub, Intercom, Procore, Shopify, and 37signals.
