COCO LENI Information

A small workshop was established in Annaberg-Buchholz, East Germany, in 1946 making handcrafted frames using the finest available materials and lenses. During this period, East German goods weren’t considered flashy, but they lasted longer, which made them sustainable and eco-friendly. Renamed COCO LENI in 2015 by Matthias Haase and Arjun Sagar. Matthias Haase, a workshop technician and optometrist who worked in the same workshop since in 1981 and Arjun who had been learning under Matthias for many years, wanted to revive the handmade eyewear of that era. They are easily repaired, renewed and serviced as they are made using traditional design skills using long lasting hinges and natural materials.
