Cloudprober is open-source active monitoring software. It runs probes against your systems the same way your users reach them, and turns the results into metrics your existing monitoring stack already understands. Instead of asking whether a server is up, Cloudprober asks whether the thing your users depend on actually works: can the frontend reach the backend, can a VM in one region reach a service in another, does the login flow complete, and how long does it take. What it does: - Built-in probes for HTTP, PING, DNS, TCP, UDP, and gRPC — plus SQL, Starlark script, and external probes for anything custom - Continuous, automatic target discovery (Kubernetes, GCP, AWS, file- and HTTP-based), so most infrastructure changes need no redeploy or reconfiguration - Exports to Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Google Cloud Monitoring, AWS CloudWatch, Postgres, Pub/Sub, and more - A single static Go binary or a small container, with a low CPU and memory footprint even at 10,000+ targets - Extensible along nearly every axis through protobuf-based configuration Cloudprober began inside Google's Cloud Networking SRE team, built to monitor network availability at Google scale, and was open sourced in 2017. Today it runs in production at Snowflake, Cloudflare, DoorDash, Hostinger, Robinhood, and many others, with over 20 million Docker pulls. Apache 2.0 licensed. Contributions welcome.
