The company maintains an active research and development program, and continually is refining and expanding its product line. It is this looking ahead technically, while respectfully maintaining the sonic and artistic traditions of the past that has enabled us to create church instruments which are fun to play, beautiful to look at, sonically superior and have unparalleled reliability. A critical characteristic of the organ is that it can be designed and voiced to suit the room in which it is to be used. The scaling and voicing capacity of Classic organs has been industry leading and is a significant factor in the success of Classic organs. In 1998, Classic Organbuilders found that Generalmusic of Italy was mass-producing organs that did have fine sound, were solidly built and did have the scaling and voicing capacity that Classic needed to maintain its reputation for fine installations. Thus, in 1998, Classic Organbuilders added to its products by becoming the exclusive dealer for Ontario, Canada, for the Ahlborn Galanti line of fine organs. Another innovation is the introduction of OrganWorks , the world's first organ design and specification program for Microsoft Windows. This user-friendly PC program allows any organist or organ builder to graphically design the organ console, as well as enter all the detailed data pertaining to the pipes, electronic tone generators, and/or MIDI equipment to be included in the organ.
