My journey to freelancing: It was 15th September 2020 and I had just had my final redundancy consultation, facing my reluctant reality that I was unemployed. I had been telling myself for months that this would be my last permanent role in marketing before deciding I would go freelance as a content writer, and that time was now. For the past couple of years, I felt the workplace had started to let me down and as I sat looking at my blank laptop screen after the redundancy call, I felt excited at the prospect of finally doing things on my own terms. I did also sit there feeling exhausted, frustrated, and quite crushed. For ten years I have funneled my ambition into working and progressing myself in my marketing career. Among routine and ad-hoc marketing tasks, I excel at creating uplifting and engaging content for the companies I work for including blogs, web copy, case studies, articles, as well as proofreading and editing work of my colleagues. One of the things I love to do, particularly throughout each of my previous B2B employments, was creating case studies and being given the opportunity to find the real human stories among content focused on business solutions. I understood the importance to convey how a piece of software for example, can transform the way a business and its people work, but I also recognised that among that, our customers and prospects would enjoy reading people-led news and stories. Throughout the past few years, I have been credited with understanding people, being able to turn their thoughts into great content ideas and stories. My writing style is naturally quite chatty and uplifting, but I can adapt to any project. Writing has been a long-term passion and I love exploring and being challenged by new topics.
