'사업보국(事業報國)'의 사명으로 대한민국 문화를 전 세계에 알려 온 주역 CJ그룹이 한류 문화콘텐츠 산업 발전을 위해 추진된 경기도 공모 사업에 참여하면서 2015년 설립됐다. CJ CGV, CJ ENM을 잇는 CJ그룹 엔터테인먼트 부문 사업에 해당한다.
