Founded in 1995 by an entrepreneurial welder who saw the growing need for independent specialty cladding, the company helped pioneer automated GTAW cladding at a time when the process was still emerging. By partnering closely with OEMs, C&J helped develop and advance the technology that shaped the industry. In 2014, C&J Cladding joined ELLWOOD Group Inc., a 115+ year old, family owned leader in steelmaking and forging. As an independent business unit, our mission has remained consistent, serve as the Center of Excellence for Welding across the ELLWOOD organization while continuing to deliver world class quality and service to our Oil & Gas customers. Over time, our reputation has expanded into new industries with challenging or highly technical welding needs. Recognizing the need to evolve and innovate, we rebranded in 2025 to ELLWOOD Technical Welding. This new name reflects our alignment with the broader ELLWOOD family and the vertically integrated portfolio our customers can now access from specialty metals and forging, to engineered and finished components. Today, ELLWOOD Technical Welding offers full scope solutions for the most demanding applications, backed by deep materials expertise, unmatched production capacity, and a commitment to perfecting new welding processes before bringing them to market.
