City Software Engineering builds simpler, safer and more cost-efficient software. AI has made code faster and cheaper to produce, but good software still depends on sound judgement, careful design and operational experience. We combine AI-accelerated delivery with deep software engineering expertise to create systems that remain reliable, maintainable and economical as they grow. Alongside developing our own software products, we help clients assess new opportunities, design and build solutions, troubleshoot systems that have become slow, costly or fragile, and take responsibility for maintaining existing applications. Founded by Matt Tanner following more than 25 years designing, building, running and rescuing mission-critical systems, City Software Engineering is based in Canterbury, Kent, and works with organisations wherever they are. We believe the best software is not the most complicated. It puts engineering effort where it matters, avoids unnecessary technology and stays proportionate to the problem it solves.
