The City of Hoschton is a small community and a wonderful place to call home. It is located just off Interstate 85 in Jackson County in north Georgia, about 35 miles northeast of the Atlanta perimeter. Jackson County is included in the 10 fastest growing counties in the country yet offers an abundance of open spaces and unspoiled views of the states Piedmont Region just south of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The City of Hoschton is over midway to completion of this $ 2.5 million dollar upgrade scheduled to be completed and operational by early July of this year. The construction of the Equalization Pond from the Phase 1 Upgrade provided the City with the ability to treat wastewater at a capacity of 200,000 gallons per day (GPD). All components in the Plant were originally designed and constructed for an average daily flow of 500,000 GPD. However, the plant had an inadequate functioning Phase Separator acting as a Clarifier, which is not adequate for the treatment of 500,000 GPD. The Phase 2 Upgrade replaces this Phase Separator with two Circular Clarifiers for more efficient solids separation thereby allowing the plant to reach its original design flow capacity of 500,000 GPD. The footings and both Clarifier bases and required piping have been installed along with the flow splitter boxes. The past several weeks of cold wet weather have impeded the concrete installation of the circular wall forms and rebar for the two Clarifiers.
