Fabrica is a research centre for contemporary communication established in 1994 from a vision of Luciano Benetton and Oliviero Toscani. With a renaissance-inspired, learning-by-doing approach, Fabrica offers artist-in-residence programs of one year to creative talents under 25 who develop, led by experts, projects in the fields of photography, design, editorial, digital, video and music. The document by which it was created dates back to the night between 27 & 28 May 1955, when Turin Council, presided over by the mayor, Amadeo Peyron, and supported by Maria Tettamanzi, councillor responsible for education, sat long into the night to discuss the aims of the new cultural authority and to decide upon an annual contribution of 20 million lire and the concession of the antiquated auditorium of Teatro Gobetti. On December 2007, Mario Martone has been appointed as director of Tst.

After driving the city’s industrial growth providing train maintenance for almost a century, in the 1990s OGR Torino’s 35,000-sqm structure lay abandoned, taken over by wild plants. In 2013, Fondazione CRT bought the building and began redevelopment led by Secretary General Massimo Lapucci. In 2017, OGR Torino reopened as an inclusive space that celebrates contemporary culture. It welcomes visitors with site-specific art, music events and projects developed with international partners, and has created a strong business acceleration hub for an ecosystem of startups, scaleups and companies. Ours is a space in constant renewal, inviting everyone to get to discover more – even with a simple moment of relaxation, in our all-day-long restaurant and café.
