Center for Investigative Journalism in Serbia (CINS) from Belgrade is a unique organization in Serbia, engaged in investigative journalism in order to provide trusted and accurate information, based on facts and evidence, which will help citizens to better understand the occasions. CINS won the prestigious award European Press Prize in the investigative journalism category in 2017. We also received six annual national awards for excellence in investigative journalism – in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 (two awards) 2015 and 2017. In 2017 we won first Balkan Fact-checking award and EU Delegation to Serbia award for investigative journalism. At the time when he was editor-in-chief of CIJS, Stevan Dojčinović received the 2013 regional award ‘Jug Grizelj’ while he was one of seven members of the international investigative team that won the Daniel Pearl award for cross-border investigative journalism in 2011. The focus of our work are organized crime and corruption that negatively affect the lives of people in Serbia. We are working on research projects and stories that encompass all spheres of society: education, sports, health, employment, politics, drugs and cigarette smuggling, falsification of documents and drugs, and other financial scams. CINS was established in 2008. year by the Independent Journalists Association of Serbia (IJAS). Today we are modern, autonomous and independent news agency and our stories are published on leading web portals in Serbia, and the number of visitors to the www.cins.rs is increasing. We are part of an international network of Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), which brings together journalists and independent research organizations in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. CINS is funded from grants, with a tendency to be sustainable organization, that would cover the operational costs of the organization.
