Chugach's corporate mission is to provide safe, reliable, and affordable electricity through superior service and sustainable practices, powering the lives of our members. Chugach Electric Association is headquartered in Anchorage, Alaska's largest city. Anchorage itself sits at the base of the Chugach Mountains. The word "Chugach" comes from an Eskimo tribal name, which the Russians recorded as "Chugatz" or "Tchougatskoi". In 1898, U.S. Army Capt. W.R. Abercrombie spelled the name "Chugatch" and applied it to the mountains. Chugach is Alaska's largest electric utility, providing power to over 92,000 members from Anchorage to the northern Kenai Peninsula & from Whittier to Tyonek. Our nearly 460 employees all live and work in Alaska.

Golden Valley Electric Association serves over 36,000 members, with 44,800 meters, in Interior Alaska. The Cooperative’s mission is to safely provide these members with reliable electric service, quality customer service and innovative energy solutions at fair and reasonable prices.

AWWU employs close to 300 men and women who operate its treatment plants and other facilities, while spending $50 million annually to ensure Anchorage’s water and wastewater systems perform efficiently. The Utility’s Core Purpose – Safeguarding Public Health and the Environment - is supported and attained with AWWU’s Infrastructure, its Financial Resources, and most importantly, its Human Resources, our professional staff. AWWU employees are provided with the tools to achieve success through education, training, certification programs, and field experiences which have resulted in a staff with longevity at all levels for the residents of the Municipality of Anchorage to depend upon. These are treatment plant operators, engineers, administrators, laboratory technicians, maintenance craftsmen, accountants, customer service representatives, computer specialists and field service personnel.
