Chuckanut Center Information

What is now Chuckanut Center began it's life as the caretakers house for the Fairhaven Park Rose Garden, then became a youth hostel for a spell in the 90's, then fell to disrepair. After the City of Bellingham requested ideas for use of the house, a group of south side residents had the vision and energy to take on the restoration and re-purposing of this historical asset. They formed a non-profit and began work in 2009, some of the founding board members are pictured below in front of one of the fence line spider web benches. We continue this important work today, as both the house and property are a vision in progress. We were granted our occupancy status on April 1, 2017 and started to run classes and programs and offer the house as a community sharing space.
