What started as a single food drive conducted by several concerned citizens has grown to encompass a host of annual events and include volunteers from varied walks of life with ages ranging from 20s through 70s. We are, essentially, a grassroots team of beggars and witnesses to a vision of a world centered in compassion and community while rooted firmly in justice and peace. Following 9 years of anonymity, we incorporated as Christs Ambassadors of Charity in December 2007 with a founding mission to collect basic necessities for our poor and disadvantaged neighbors in the New York metropolitan area. We are a 501(c)3 not for profit charitable foundation run completely by volunteers existing to serve the needy regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, age, creed, or sexual orientation. Although currently running approximately 20-25 food and clothing drives annually, we are always seeking to expand our efforts and impact. We operate in front of supermarkets, in school cafeterias, and at other assorted locations in efforts to collect the basic provisions that some of us take for granted and others so severely and tragically lack. Donations are distributed to food pantries, community centers, soup kitchens, and shelters which serve low income and working poor families, the abused, and the homeless, in eight counties in New York and New Jersey.
