Christine Lompo Foundation Information

The situation of orphans and vulnerable children is a concern for the authorities, who place particular emphasis on education as a preparatory path for sustainable development. The AIDS pandemic has exacerbated this already precarious situation. It sets up sadness and desolation in families, degrades the social fabric, and jeopardizes the development of the country. Faced with this situation, private initiatives, associations and NGOs are investing in the different areas of education, training, health care and care for orphans and vulnerable children. The Christine Lompo Foundation goal is to bring its contribution and its support to this disadvantaged social layer. We want to improve the living conditions of Orphans and Vulnerable Children in Burkina Faso by sending them to school and empowering them. We also plan on setting up community development projects for the benefit of the population. Inspired by my mother Christine Lompo, who was a strong women activist in my home country Fada NGourma (Burkina Faso), i decided to start the Christine Lompo Foundation. Back in 1998, my mother and father started a foundation called FAMOG (Family of Orphans of Gourma). With their foundation, they sent over a thousand orphans and vulnerable children to school. Today, some of them are completing their masters degree. They aslo provided employment and better living conditions to more than 600 families through income generating activities up until 2014 when my mother suddenly passed away. At that time, not only my family was devastated and alone but also all the children, women and families the foundation was supporting. It did not feel right to me to just let the hard work she and my father had done go to waste. In fact since i was a little girl, my parents always taught me to care for others. I grew up with the children of the orphanage, going to school with them and playing with them. They are my brothers and sisters.
