CMTA was founded in 1951 as the Greater Los Angeles Sunday School Association (GLASS) with the first convention held in 1952. It is a voluntary association of individuals, Sunday Schools, churches and other organizations from various denominations who cooperate in training Christians for service in their local church. (The name was changed in 1993 because its scope became more than Greater Los Angeles and more than Sunday School.) Its services are used by churches and individuals throughout Southern California and neighboring states. CMTA is incorporated under the laws of the State of California and approved by the Department of Internal Revenue to accept gifts which are tax-deductible.
